Frequently asked questions

What's the maximum interest a credit card can charge in the Philippines?+

The BSP caps credit card finance charges at 3% per month (about 36% per year) on unpaid balances. This rate is the same across issuers — so compare cards by fees and rewards in the credit cards table instead.

Do I pay interest if I pay my full balance each month?+

No. If you pay the full statement balance by the due date, purchases are interest-free. Interest applies only to unpaid/revolving balances and to cash advances.

What is an annual fee and can it be waived?+

It's a yearly charge for holding the card. Many issuers waive it for the first year, or when you meet a minimum yearly spend. Compare annual fees across issuers in the credit cards table.
